With a view to developing Yokohama as a city of arts where artists can set a clear goal for their creation, Steep Slope Studio endeavors to develop all the approaches to support creatorsf daily activities. We create new works with our four resident artists based in Yokohama: Toshiki Okada (Chelfisch); Yasuko Nakada (space art HIKARIi); Shigeki Nakano (Shigeki Nakano & Frankens) and Mikuni Yanaihara (Nibroll), while exploring and proposing the creation and exposition from Yokohama. In addition, we develop human resources (e.g., dramaturges, producers and technicians) which contribute to the performing arts of next generation and support them to work overseas.

As a platform where people encounter the others and gather information through performing arts, Steep Slope Studio creates dialogues among people of all backgrounds and generations. In cooperation with an initiative of Yokohama city to form the Creative Core Areas, Steep Slope Studio, being in charge of Sakuragicho/Noge area, proposes and implements the projects where the local administration, NPOs, artists and citizens work together utilizing the human resource and ideas of both the local community and the NPOs.
